	Bespoke Application Examples The smallest The smallest complete project was for a small company of surveyors. They had an existing bespoke Access application to manage surveys summaries, but it had problems. GroupWorks reviewed the software, and concluded that the best and cheapest way to what they needed was a complete rewrite based on a system recently completed for another client. The project included converting data from the old system to the new, which comprised 8 screens and 6 reports, with the main screen giving selection and generic reporting facilties. Initial cost of the project was £500, plus 5 hours support over 18 months including enhancements and upgrading to a new version of Access Rather larger This project was for a home and commercial removal company with several branches. Work started with automating certain customer letters to improve consistency, quality and build in checks. This proved successful, and though phased developments it covered all customer-side interactions. Further development went on the operational side and uploading information to the accounts system, followed by automatic assignment and management of leads from the web and a web-based quotation system The system now continues in maintenance mode some six years after work started. Systems for resale One system was for a company selling data about large projects being financed and developed worldwide. They wanted to provide their clients with a tool that could flexibly search, order, print and manage project details, and for which revised data could be supplied. Today this would probably be implemented via the web, at the time, a couple of yours ago, and for marketing reasons, a solution in Visual Basic and Access was the most appropriate solution. This was a fixed price development that was completed to time and budget, the system was sold on at £12,000 per client (although the bulk of the value was in the data); sadly GroupWorks did not have a royalty agreement!
